Haley Mitchell (she, her), a New York City-based artist, is excited about beginning to perform in New York alongside finishing her third year of working towards her BFA in Dance at NYU Tisch. Haley is passionate about performance, choreography, and teaching—her upbeat personality and willingness allow for much confidence among those in any process with her. She is spirited by performance art, jazz dance, multi-media art, and comedy. She is excited to say that this summer, she has been given the opportunity to study with the Verdon Fosse Legacy in their Professional Training Program. She has worked with accomplished choreographers such as Annie Rigney (Allemande for 19, world premiere), Bebe Miller (Events and Other So Called Virtues, restaged), Pau Aran Gimeno (The Return, world premiere), Sean Curran (Social Discourse, restaged), and more. As a choreographer herself, she is passionate about movement from a place of joy and freedom, first; she is interested in how jazz dance can shift and shape new worlds in space for the audience, with its subtleties and concise details being apparent. Outside of dance spaces, she is deeply fueled by Pilates and is working towards becoming a certified comprehensive Pilates instructor this Winter.

Training with the Verdon Fosse Legacy
in their Professional Training Program
I am so grateful to be with the Verdon Fosse Legacy this Summer, learning from absolute legends in this 6-week program. Studying Fosse's work in the afternoon, only after I train and learn its roots in Classical Indian, Flamenco, and Afro-Caribbean Dance in the morning, has been truly pivotal in my dance journey... and there are still two weeks left! Elizabeth Parkinson, Dylis Croman, Mary Ann Lamb, and Ashley Blair Fitzgerald are just a few names of many wonderful artists I have had the opportunity of studying with. I am looking forward to the rest of this program and our in-house repetoire Showcase on August 15.
